#69: When the neighbour’s daughter is so beautiful …

Adam is listening to the radio in the living room. The radio is quiet. He must keep it quiet. He is listening to the news from a foreign country. Everyone who listens to the radio program of that country is put in prison and dies there. Adam falls asleep. Suddenly, he feels someone’s hand on his shoulder. He wakes up. He looks up from the armchair and sees his neighbour. He is happy it is not the police. He walks to the radio and turns it off.
“Listening to that channel is dangerous,” the neighbour says.
Adam doesn’t answer. He doesn’t want to speak about it.
“They can put you in prison and you know what happens to political prisoners,” continues the neighbour.
Adam looks at the neighbour. Why is he saying that? What does he want from him?
“How is your daughter?” the neighbour asks.
“She is fine,” Adam answers. He wonders why he is asking about his teenage daughter. He never asks about her.
“She will not be fine, if you keep listening to that radio.”
Adam is now angry with the neighbour. He asks him to leave.
In half an hour, the police come to take Adam to the police station. Adam looks back at his daughter from the police-car. She is crying. The neighbour’s hand is around her shoulder.
