#67: The landlord’s girlfriend

Ann enters the flat for the last time. It is not hers. She is renting it. The landlord, the man who owns the flat, has been away on business for half a year. He is coming back today. She has never met him. She goes to university. And she was happy she found this flat half a year ago. And she is not happy she has to leave it. She feels at home here. She likes to live in this flat. To her everything is perfect. The furniture is perfect. The decoration is perfect. She has fallen in love with the flat. She has fallen in love with the owner. She thinks she knows the man even though she has never seen him.
She is packing her things but she doesn’t want to leave. She wants to stay and she wants to meet the man.
When he doesn’t come till midnight, she takes a taxi and gets a room in a nearby hotel. The following day Ann writes an email in which she asks the man to meet her.
He writes back. He writes to her he is happy to have a girlfriend already. He is sending a photo, too. He is in the photo with his girlfriend. She likes the man. He is very handsome. Ann looks at the girl more closely. She is just like Ann. She has the same hair, the same colour of eyes. She is wearing the same clothes Ann has from a boutique. Ann is looking at herself.
