#66: The receipt from the petrol station

The receipt from the petrol station (When you cheat don’t keep the receipt)

Bess is sitting in the kitchen when her husband comes home late at night.
“Where have you been?”
“I was at work. Our overseas client wanted to talk to me on the phone. You know… different time zones.”
“You have been with a woman.”
“Darling, we have talked about this. I love only you.”
They talk for about ten minutes. She asks him questions and he answers. She knows he is cheating on her. She doesn’t know how to tell him.
“When was the last time you paid at a petrol station?” she asks.
“Two days ago.”
“Yes, it was our anniversary and you came home late. Do you remember?”
“Yes, our client…”
“Do you use condoms when you speak with your clients on the phone?”
He is quiet. It is quiet for minutes. She speaks first.
“I found this in your pocket when I was putting your trousers into the washing machine. The car plate number is on it,” she says and puts a piece of paper on the table. It is a receipt from the petrol station.
He reads: Petrol: 50 tollar, Condom: 5 tollar, Total: 55 tollar.
