Andy enters the flat. The smell is terrible. He hears the sound of an internet communicator. Somebody is calling. He goes to the open notebook on the table next to the bed. He reads the text on the screen: ‘Ted is calling…’ Andy ignores the call. After two minutes Ted gives up and hangs up. Andy reads the missed messages from Ted:
‘Daddy, I want to talk to you. Please don’t ignore me. I know you live on the other side of the world but I still need you. Why don’t you answer? I have been trying to contact you for over two weeks. The last time we talked you promised you will be online the following day. Anyway, I want to talk to you about my visit. I want to bring my newborn son, your grandson. He is a strong boy and he too wants to see you. He doesn’t talk yet but when I say the word grandpa he always smiles..’
Andy stops reading and wipes his eyes. He has a lot of experience but these situations are always difficult for him. He doesn’t know if he should keep reading or not. He looks at the bed. He is thinking about the words from Ted. Ted loves his father and his son loves his grandfather. But they will never meet him again. Andy goes out to the street. He goes to the black car. He speaks with the driver. The driver takes a black bag and gets out of the car. They go inside the flat. They put the black bag on the floor in front of the bed. It is about two meters long. They put on a pair of rubber gloves. They take the dead body off the bed and put it in the bag. They pull up the zip. They take Ted’s father to the morgue, and later, to the cemetery.
