#65: Emily and her beautiful daughter

Emily is sitting in the living room. She is looking at some photos. There is a beautiful woman in the photos. It is Emily 20 years ago. She stands up with the photos in her hand and goes to a big mirror. She looks at herself in the mirror and then she looks at the photos. She looks like a different person. She is not old but she feels old. She is not ugly but she feels ugly. She is not fat but she feels fat. Now, she doesn’t have a partner in life. Back then, every man wanted to be with her. She sits back to the sofa. She prepares some illegal drugs. She needs these drugs. Sometimes, she feels better after taking drugs. She injects the drug. She does not feel any better. Just then her daughter comes into the living room. She looks exactly like Emily twenty years ago.
“Where have you been?” Emily asks.
“I was just out with my friends.”
“Don’t lie to me. You were with the boys.”
“I wasn’t.”
“Don’t talk back to me,” Emily says and fetches a belt. She runs to her daughter and hits her several times with the belt. The belt leaves red and blue marks on the daughter’s legs and arms. The daughter runs out of the living room and the house.
Emily sits back to the sofa and asks herself an important question: “Why is Emily so young and beautiful and I am so old and ugly?”
