#10: Lover or spender

Lover or spender?

Sandy comes home from work late with a smile on her face and a new necklace around her neck.
“What is that?” her husband asks.
“A necklace.”
“I can see that but where did you get it?”
“I bought it.”
“I thought we were saving for a new car.”
“It was cheap, darling.”
“It doesn’t look cheap at all.”
“You don’t understand jewelry.”
“Perhaps I don’t. But I know you got it from your lover.“
“Honey, we have talked about this. I don’t have a lover anymore. I don’t want a lover. You are the only person I love,” she says and kisses him on the lips.
While she is sleeping that night, he looks into her handbag to find proof she has a lover. He reads her text messages on the phone, checks her calendar and photos to find the lover. He doesn’t find anything that proves she has a lover. But he finds a receipt from a jewelry shop. “Necklace: 200 dollars”. He doesn’t know if he should be angry or cool. He knows she doesn’t have a lover but she spends too much money on jewelry.
