#81: The precious ring

“I want my ring back!” Patricia shouts in the pawn shop.
“Madam, please don’t shout. You are late. You had to bring the money yesterday. We sold the ring this morning. I don’t make the rules. If someone doesn’t bring back the money in 7 days, we sell their things.”
“I have to get the ring back. It is from my grandmother. It is very dear to me. It is my lucky talisman. It has saved me many times. And I loved my grandmother.”
“I would like to give it back to you. I see you have the money and the interest but the ring is not here.”
“Who bought it? Where does he live?”
“We don’t ask for names, addresses or phone numbers. I remember he was a young, handsome man. He really liked your ring. He said it was similar to a ring he has at home.”
Patricia takes a photo from her handbag. “Is he the man?”
“Oh, yes that is the man! Oh, you are so lucky you know the man. You can buy it back from him.”
“He will sell it but he will not sell it back to me. He knows exactly how much it is worth to people who want to do evil.”
She runs out of the pawn shop. She must catch her boyfriend at home before he sells the ring.
