#71: An army of thieves

William puts down his tools. His work is over. It is time to go home. He leaves the construction site. On the way home, he goes through the city. He goes to the shops. He doesn’t want to buy anything. He doesn’t have money. He is window shopping. He wants to look at things he will buy when he becomes rich. If he cannot buy them he steals them. But not today. The shops are closed. He steals only at the weekends. He will come back at the weekend when he doesn’t work. At the weekend, he goes to a second hand clothes shop. He saw a uniform there on Tuesday. It is an army uniform. He is looking at the uniform and starts dreaming. When he has the uniform, he will be able to do things he cannot do now. He tries on the uniform. It fits him perfectly. He cannot steal the uniform. The shop assistant takes it out from a glass cupboard when somebody asks for it. He buys it even if it costs him a whole month’s salary. He will soon have the money back. From the shop he goes to an army base near the city. Nobody asks him what he is doing there. He has the uniform. He goes into a building full of soldiers. He gives commands. He choses ten people to go with him. He tells the soldiers they are going to stop a bad man and send him to prison. He tells the soldiers the police asked the army to go there because the man can be especially dangerous. The policemen don’t want to risk their lives. They drive to the city of the criminal. They arrive on Monday morning. They go to the town-hall. They run into the office of the treasurer. William commands the soldiers to take the criminal to the police station in the other city. The soldiers follow his command. Before they leave, William asks them to put all the money into a car. William is whistling happy songs as he is driving the car to the other side of the country. He starts a new, richer life.
