“John, switch on the TV, now!” Amanda, a friend of his, says over the phone one Friday afternoon.
“Why? Aliens are attacking the earth?” he asks jokingly.
“No, it is much better. Switch it to the 66th channel. Watch it for a while and call me back,” she says and puts down the phone.
John tunes into the 66th channel and starts watching. The picture quality is not too good. Soon, he realizes he is watching the television channel of a foreign civilization. At the beginning, he doesn’t understand the language but he picks it up very fast. It surprises him because he was never good at learning languages. He watches the program for the whole weekend. It is the best show he has ever seen. On Monday morning, he calls in sick to work. He keeps watching the show. On Friday, he remembers to call his friend.
“Amanda, I can’t take my eyes off the 66th channel.”
“It is great isn’t it? I haven’t been to work for two weeks. But it doesn’t matter. Everyone from the company is watching it.”
