#96: This is my Olympic medal

“John, are you ready for the good news?”
“I guess i am. What is that?”
“You have been sober for one year.”
“Really?”
“Yes. From the stories you told us we know that the last time you drank was one year ago,” says the group leader and gives John a medal. It says ‘ONE SOBER YEAR’ on it.
John stops to think. He comes to this support group to stop to drink. But he has a problem now. He knows that he drank yesterday.
“Yes,” John says. “I haven’t drunk for a year. And I am very proud of it.”
Everybody claps. Everybody cheers. John feels good.
“Stop. Stop cheering please,” he says. “I drank yesterday”
The group leader comes to John and wants to take away the medal.
“Go away and don’t take my medal,” John says. “This is my medal. I earned it. I worked for it. I won it. People win Olympic medals when cheating. This is my Olympic medal.”
